WORK will start this week on two new artificial turf pitches in West Oxfordshire.
The pitches, in Eynsham and Carterton, are expected to open in September.
The floodlit and all-weather Eynsham artificial turf pitch, at Bartholomew School sports field, will be the village’s first.
It will be suitable for football, hockey, tennis and netball.
It has been funded by £150,000 of developer contributions from the building of homes in Swinford Green and £47,000 from Bartholomew School.
A new artificial turf pitch at Carterton Community College will replace the deteriorated pitch laid in 1998. The £167,000 3G surface, funded by West Oxfordshire District Council, is suitable for football, hockey and tag rugby.
Both pitches will be available to the schools during the day and the community in the evenings and at weekends.
