A MOTHER and her son escaped a fire which started in the oven at their home in Bicester.
Fire crews were called to the house in Colne Close shortly before 8.30am after the woman heard her two smoke alarms sounding.
Upon arrival firefighters discovered smoke filling the house and put the blaze out.
Crew manager from Bicester Nigel Chaney said: “It was fortunate the occupier had working smoke alarms which quickly alerted them to the fire and gave them time to safely leave the house.
“Without this early warning, the outcome of this fire could have been much worse.”
