PEOPLE are being urged to don fancy dress and have a flipping good time.

Bicester’s mayor Dan Sames wants people young and old to take part in a charity pancake race, in Garth Park, off Launton Road, on Sunday, February 10, at 11am.

Entry costs £2 and the race will be mixed ages over a track of about 100 metres long.

All money raised will be donated to the mayor’s charities, 23 Pioneer Regiment Benevolent Fund and the Churchill Hospital Haematology Trials Fund.

Mr Sames, pictured getting in some practice with his son Thomas, five, said the idea followED the success of the town’s pre-Christmas Santa Fun Run.

He said: “We thought we’d try another seasonal fun activity.

“Pancake racing goes way back, so we thought it was worth putting on.

“Hopefully we will have a great take-up – dust off your aprons, dig out a frying pan and head down to the race on February 10. It should be bags of fun.”

Trophies will be presented to the race winner and best fancy dress.
