POLICE are "increasingly concerned" for the welfare of a missing man who disappeared almost a week ago. 

Richard Bochenek was last seen in the Oxford Road area of Banbury on Thursday. 

Thames Valley Police investigating officer Supt Christian Bunt appealed directly to the 55-year-old to let officers know he is safe. 

He said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for his welfare.

"We are making a public appeal for anyone with information about his whereabouts to please come forward.

“If you see Richard or have any information that you think might help our investigation please call us. 

“Richard, if you are reading this then please make contact with police so we know you are safe and well.”

The force said he has been living in Middle Barton and is often seen on the Heyford Canal path nearby.

He is white, about 5ft 7ins, slim, has short blonde hair and blue eyes.

When he was last seen he was wearing glasses, a blue hooded top, blue jeans, a green waxed jacket and brown trainers.

He was carrying a black and yellow satchel bag.
