Oxford City crushed Didcot Town 4-0 in a one-sided pre-season friendly on Saturday at Draycott Engineering Loop Meadow Stadium.

City were clinical in front of goal with a second-half brace from Will Green adding to early goals from Adam Learoyd and Darren Pond to give them a comfortable victory.

The visitors dominated the early exchanges and took the lead after just six minutes when former Didcot star Learoyd fired into the roof of the net from close range after a scramble in the box.

And matters got worse for the hosts ten minutes later when Pond drilled his shot low into the corner of the net after linking up well with triallist Adam Maabdi.

The Railwaymen could have pulled one back shortly before half-time when a thunderous long-range effort from former City striker Pablo Haysham beat the keeper, but cannoned back off the frame of the goal to maintain City’s firm grip on the game.

It was a new-look City who took to the field in the second half in their yellow change strip, after making ten changes at the break.

And though they were less dominant in the second half, City continued to threaten.

They made it 3-0 midway thr-ough the second half when Green found acres of space in the box to nod in after Tom Winters chipped the ball back from the byline.

And Green and Winters combined again to add City’s fourth shortly before the final whistle, Green this time heading in from the edge of the box.
