If you weren’t at The Talkhouse, at Stanton St John on the 5th of August you missed a fantastic evening of wonderful music and singing of the highest quality.

A young singer called Atila, backed by an all star band treated us to a spectacular run through of The Great American Songbook. His treatment of the the great Jimmy van Heusen song, who never wrote a bad lyric, “Here's That Rainy Day” was just sublimeand profoundly musical, “I've Got The World on a String,” upbeat and joyous.

His backing band comprised a group of highly talented and sensitive musicians including Tim Lapthorne on keyboards, Julian Jackson on harmonica, Rod Youngs on drums and the ever hard working Tim Dawes who manages to consistently bring world class British musicians and singers to the Oxford area.

Britain's Got Talent? You bet it has! So citizens of Oxford let's get out and support these wonderful musicians. We have a tremendous jazz scene in our city let's give the venues and musicians all the encouragement they need.
