On Monday, children and parents from two special schools in Oxford - Mabel Pritchard and Wood Eaton Manor – went to the Paralympics at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, as guests of Rotary Club of Oxford North, some of whose members also went along for the fun.

In glorious sunshine the children, their families and Rotarians, led by Club President Keith Middleton, witnessed a wide range of exciting track and field. Athletes from the the GB team drew particularly loud cheers from the capacity crowd – especially for the morning’s finale when Paralympic legend David Weir was awarded his gold medal for the 5000 metres, won the evening before. A really uplifting and memorable experience for all concerned!
