A 76-year-old man from Banbury has been convicted of indecent assault.

Neville Feasey, 76, of Yule Court, was found unanimously guilty of 13 counts of indecent assault at Oxford Crown Court last Tuesday after a five-day trial.

The offences relate to one female victim and are historic.

Feasey was also found not guilty of six counts of rape.

Police said he was arrested on March 2 last year and charged on September 30, 2014.

Investigating officer, Det Con Rebecca McLeod said: "This is a brilliant result for the victim in this case, who has lived with the memories of the abuse she suffered for more than 40 years.

"The victim has shown considerable bravery in coming forward and now justice has been served with Feasey being convicted.

"I hope Feasey’s convictions will now enable the victim to move on with her life.

“I would like to thank the victim, the witnesses, all staff and officers at Thames Valley Police involved in the case, and the Crown Prosecution Service for securing these convictions.

“We hope that this case will encourage other victims to have the confidence to come forward and report offences, no matter how old."
