OXFORD’S favourite dog show with a difference was back in town as part of the city’s Pride festival.

Pride, which supports the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, started on Friday.

As part of the festival, dogs and their owners gathered at The Jolly Farmers pub in Paradise Square for the laid-back show.

According to organisers, around 40 pooches turned up for the competition and competed in categories such as most butch dog, dog with the waggiest tail, fluffiest dog and best dressed dog.

Julia and Thea Wright came along with their five-year-old Pug Monty.

Julia said: “It was amazing. Monty won best dressed and he had his tie on and a gorgeous T-shirt.”

The dog show was followed by an evening of karaoke at The Jolly Farmers, with a series of events to take place across the city in the coming week. The main parade is set to be held on Saturday.
