YOUR appreciation (Championship glory is fitting tribute to county’s Mr Cricket : September 23) of Chris Bishop, who died on September 15, didn’t have room enough to include another aspect of Chris Bishop’s rich and varied life.
He was in recent years a muchvalued allotment holder on the Eden Drive site, Headington, visible from the John Radcliffe Hospital driveway.
Chris’s plot lies next to the shed, at the top of the site and so visible to all who enter on their way to their respective plots and at the moment unmissable for its superb display of dahlias, for which Chris was awarded a prize in August.
Allotment sites are close and generous communities, and Eden Drive is no exception, with Chris Bishop unfailingly friendly and helpful, his site a model of organisation and care.
