JUST a note to the privileged few who are campaigning against the statue of Cecil Rhodes: if you do not like the architecture of your place of learning please feel free to go elsewhere to study.

Although you may find in other university towns they may also have statues or paintings that upset your feelings. We cannot attribute our now sensibilities on the past or where do we stop?

Do we get rid of the Pope for the crimes of the conquistadores? Perhaps we could sue Italy for the crimes of the Roman Empire or more recently Angela Merkel for what the world suffered during two world wars.

Once more I reiterate that the ‘Rhodes Must Fall’ students should concentrate on what they are at Oxford for, that is to learn and become the doctors, lawyers or what ever they are studying and leave our architecture and history alone.
