IT SEEMS that “right to buy” social housing is likely to be extended, despite all the warning of future problems which it will bring.

Local MPs should reflect on previous experience in rural and seaside areas, many ex-council houses are now second homes for the well to-do.

Others are holiday lets.

Increasingly, in all areas ex-council houses are being bought as buy-to-let.

High rents are charged, so that housing benefit has to be paid.

Is it wise to go any further along that route?
