THE sad news of another boat fire leaving a man with burn injuries and a loved dog dead is concerning not only for the survivors but for those who are in a position to reduce the chances of this happening again.
You might remember a similar boat fire last November.
Formal mooring associations can address safety on board.
The problem with this mooring is it’s on land contested between Network Rail and a charity formed to address inequality, diversity and safety on the boats moored next to the land claimed.
Without the land ownership being sorted out progress is more difficult.
