I have received wonderful medical treatment at John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals. I am in an electric wheelchair due to degeneration of my spine and severe osteo arthritis in my hips and knees. My problem is that I cannot get to the hospitals for follow- up treatment because of a decision taken by the ambulance service. I can’t walk and I can’t drive. I live in Northampton, it’s about 40 miles to Oxford.
They say because I get mobility benefits I am not entitled to ambulance transport but when I have a medical need for an ambulance the benefits are neither here nor there.
This is yet another cut in our NHS service affecting thousands of disabled people.
