After the very large turnout, estimated to be over 750, to protest about the proposed development at the weekend, I would like to ask our Conservative majority district council the following questions.

What do you have to hide?

Why all the secrecy from our elected representatives regarding the deal done with Doric?

When Dr Mary Gill obtained a Freedom of Information order to examine the contract between the district council and Doric (October 6), the council appealed against it, an appeal unlikely be heard until next year, by which time the district council planning committee might well have made their decision.

Today’s letters

One would have thought a decision of this magnitude, depriving elderly people, the parish priest, numerous flat dwellers and small businesses of their homes and livelihoods, should be open to inspection by the community and those affected.

The effects of four years or so of demolition and building on the already appalling traffic situation in Oxford doesn’t bear thinking about.

So come clean Mr Barber.

What do you and Doric have to hide?

Janet Budd, Clover Close, Cumnor Hill, Oxford
