A question which seems neither to have been asked of nor answered by Alistair Darling and which may greatly influence voting intentions: If Scotland does vote for independence, would you stand for the new Scottish parliament or would you find an English, Welsh or Northern Ireland seat and seek to continue your Westminster career?

On Monday evening I learned about the latest proposal by the Save Temple Cowley Pools group for leasing the facilities, saving them from destruction and replacement by housing. The city council will consider this and other proposals at 5.30pm on December 10. Some reasons to hope that this plan wins out: 1. The pools and gym are much used and conveniently located. They are within walking distance for many people, unlike the replacement pool in Blackbird Leys, which would have to be accessed by bus or car by the majority.
