Doric’s latest campaign is to attempt to orchestrate a level of support for their unpopular proposals.
It’s interesting to note that they are asking for support for their development, referring to the jobs, community facilities, cinema, restaurants and improved shopping facilities. They mention the redevelopment of the 1960s shopping precinct.
As with most of Doric’s communications, they have only given part of the story. They do not mention the demolition of people’s homes, loss of jobs, apprenticeships, community and that the new jobs, facilities, etc. will not be available for two years.
Where will my customers go, many of them retired, for any sort of community? They will have a building site for two years.
What happens to my staff? Doric have made no approach to Café Aloha at all save to suggest they may lend us a shipping container to operate from – bet the Vale of White Horse District Council environmental health would have something to say about that.
