ON THE subject of housing, whether you’re renting or buying, it’s likely most of your wage packet will go on keeping a roof over your head.

Because housing is at such a premium in Oxfordshire, property prices have swollen to gargantuan proportions.

Recently it was claimed that in parts of London £2m would barely buy you a garage. Well in Oxford, it seems we’re not too far behind.

Just under half of that will buy you a summerhouse – with neither parking nor decent roof insulation.

It’s shocking how inflated the Oxford housing market has become.

Not only that, but that there are people who would pay that, is yet another example of the startling financial divisions in our society.
