Newly-crowned British Touring Car Champion Jason Plato, who lives in Eynsham, is the latest racing driver to confirm his attendance at the Autosport International racing car show.

The 43-year-old will travel to the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, to take part in a series of special live performances on January 15-16, 2011.

Now two-time BTCC Champion and presenter of Fifth Gear TV, the Oxford-born driver will make appearances on the Autosport Stage, as well as put on a spectacular display for visitors in the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena.

Having claimed seven BTCC victories this season in his Chevrolet Cruze, Plato has won a total of 60 BTCC races, equalling the record of four-time BTCC Champ Andy Rouse.

Also joining Plato will be triple FIA World Touring Car Champion Andy Priaulx. An old hand in touring cars, Priaulx is second in the 2010 WTCC standings with two events remaining and has currently secured the most WTCC wins since the series was launched with a total of 18 victories. Joining the two veterans will be Chevrolet WTCC pilot and relative new-comer to the discipline, Rob Huff.

Fan favourite Plato is looking forward to meeting some of his supporters at the show next year: “It’s always great to meet fans that have watched me race on TV, but haven’t been able to make it to the track,” said Plato. “I’ve been to Autosport International many times but this year will be totally different for me, and extra special. My co-presenter Tiff Needell and I will be putting on a brilliant show for visitors during the weekend in the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena with some spectacular stunts.”

As well as antics from Jason and Tiff, the Fifth Gear Live Action Arena will also feature stunts and wheel-to-wheel action from a variety of racing disciplines. Meanwhile, Autosport International will play host to well-known drivers, celebrities and racing personalities, including Murray Walker and Martin Brundle. Cars from many different championships will be on display, including Ayrton Senna’s legendary MP4/4 F1 racer, which will feature in a special McLaren Racing display.
