Everyone thinks boarding school is like military school where etiquette, punctuality and presentation of yourself are the three most vital things - but it’s not! To me, boarding is a vast social hub, a place to share with friends from different cultures. Our houseparent takes the role of putting up with us and laughing at our rubbish jokes, and hearing about our antics of the day. But most importantly she will support us in whatever we do.

Messy rooms, who wants them? It is the bane of most teenagers’ lives. Personally, I find solace in a messy room (some may say my room is a pig-stye?) but I love organised chaos; for me I thrive in this and find those situations which, to most, may seem to be counterproductive, as the most productive settings. Bizarre? Perhaps. I can sleep at night to loud music and even with the lights on. Scientists believe that people with messy rooms have a bigger brain which is my excuse every time!

Boarding school is like marmite, you love it, or you hate it! It solely relies on you roommate and I’m so lucky to have two of the best people to share my room with two completely different people but each amazing in their own way! Considering this year, I had never met my current roommate, she has taught me many things but most importantly she’s a friend that’s always there for me through every boy problem, every annoying teacher and every trip out together with the boarding house.

At first I hated boarding but now I love it and quite frankly couldn’t really imagine life without it. Boarding as an experience has been a blast through and through and it’s inspired me to move to Australia once I’ve finished my A-levels as it’s given me the confidence to come away from home and fully embrace independence.
