A CHARITY fun day will bring children’s rides, a barbecue, henna and face painting, stalls and ice cream to East Oxford.

On Sunday, the playing field at St Gregory the Great School will be filled with family activities, as well as a World Cup-themed football tournament running at the same time.

Now into it’s 9th year, Shajaat Hussain, chairman of organiser Sadaqah Events, said: "This is always a great family day when the whole community comes together to celebrate the vibrancy and diversity within which we live in East Oxford.”

He added: “Over the years we have raised in excess of £50,000 for charities across Oxfordshire.

"The people of East Oxford are so generous even when they may be struggling financially themselves.

"It is this kind of great community spirit that really makes us proud to serve the people of Oxford.”

This year's charity is the Wilaya Trust, an Oxford-based education group. The event will be on from 12pm-4pm at the Cricket Road school
