A MAN who has been at the heart of Abingdon's music scene for almost 30 years is leaving Oxfordshire.
Ian Miles is moving with his wife to Sussex to be nearer their grandchild. The 60-year-old was lead rehearsal pianist to Abingdon Operatic Society for more than 15 years, and began his work with local community choirs as conductor of the Oxford Welsh Male Voice Choir.
For the past decade he has run the Albert Park Singers community choir and more recently founded Abingdon Gospel Choir, while also playing weekly in term times for Wantage Choral Society and each autumn for Didcot Festival Chorus.
He was also associate musical director on the first two Abingdon Passion Plays.
