RESIDENTS keen to get involved with a community concert in Oxford can take part in rehearsals this week.

Amateur singers in Littlemore are welcome to join in with the Littlemore Oratorio, which will be performed at St Mary and St Nicholas Church on Sunday.

The concert will combine singing with dance, art, original music and a soundtrack of stories and memories shared by Littlemore residents.

Malcolm Atkins, the musician in residence at the church, encouraged people to take part in the group singing.

Anyone interested has been invited to rehearsals this week, although this is not compulsory and some of the group songs can be joined in with minimal practice.

Last night Hannah Powell, who runs the Littlemore Community Singing Group, held a practice at The Oxford Academy.

Tonight there will be a run-through at 7pm at the church, though this is mainly relevant for soloists.

Tomorrow at the same time and location there will be a group song rehearsal, which group singers are recommended to attend, and on Saturday these will be repeated with dancers from 5pm.

The final run-through takes place at 1.15pm at the church on Saturday, ahead of the performance at 3pm on Sunday.

It will also be performed at Cowley's St Mary and St John Church, at 4pm on Sunday, July 1, for Cowley Road Carnival.
