A SOUTH South Oxfordshire school travelled to Buckingham Palace yesterday to pick up Duke of Edinburgh gold awards.
Wantage's King Alfred’s Academy saw 12 former sixth formers recognised at the event.
The award tests a number of life skills in a series of challenging outdoor activities.
Juliane Spiers, King Alfred's D of E Manager, said: “This has been a record-breaking year, with 21 students achieving their Gold Award in the past 12 months.
"Now we’re taking 12 of them to Buckingham Palace to receive them. It [was] a really exciting day for all of us. The others will receive their awards later in the year.”
