A GROUP set up to help people borrow rather than buy items is 'thrilled' to have found a base in Oxford.

Share Oxford will be based at Makespace, the new centre for community groups in Aristotle House in Jericho.

The initiative, run by the Oxford Circular Collective, is aiming to create a 'library of things' that allows people to borrow items such as tools or equipment that they may need to use infrequently.

A survey conducted by the group found that 88 per cent of those polled in Oxford were 'interested' in the idea, the majority in the OX1, OX2, OX3 and OX4 postcodes.

The most common reasons given by people for wanting to use the library was to save money, save space and prevent waste.

Pricing and membership bands are now being designed and a public presentation will be held soon to outline how people can get involved.
