CONCERNS have been raised that Wantage Town Council has nearly half a million pounds being kept in reserve.
At a meeting of the council on Monday - which saw councillor Chris McCarthy elected as mayor and councillor Kiran Gill as deputy - the clerk said the £433,000 sum was too high and needed to be allocated.
The figure is nearly £100,000 more than a year earlier.
Councillor Jenny Hannaby said she hoped the reserves would be ringfenced for environmental and market-based projects for the town.
