FRAUDSTERS are phoning Oxfordshire residents in a bid to trick victims into handing over large sums of cash.
Thames Valley Police officers have issued the warning that the fraudsters are cold calling victims and pretending to be staff from their bank.
They then try to persuade residents that there is a problem with their accounts, before urging them to hand over sums of cash.
Officers say families should warn elderly or vulnerable friends and relatives to be aware that the calls could take place. Anyone receiving calls should contact police on 101.
