A SCHOOL is taking active steps to get itself out of special measures, Ofsted has said.
Wheatley Church of England Primary School was rated inadequate in February last year, after inspectors criticised school leaders and raised concerns about safety.
One concern was that 'bullying and racist incidents' were not properly followed up.
In November Ofsted visited the 350-pupil school again and said the it was not doing enough to improve, but has now noted progress following another visit last month.
A letter sent to the headteacher, published by the regulator last week, said: "Leaders and managers are taking effective action towards the removal of special measures.
"The improvement plan is fit for purpose."
If Ofsted judges a school to be inadequate - the worst of four possible standards - it will place it in one of two categories of concern.
Special measures is the most serious, and means the school will be closely monitored, and made to draw up a detailed plan to tackle key issues raised.
