AN OVERHAUL of an Oxford college will see the building shut while its electrics and plumbing are replaced.

Worcester College has asked Oxford City Council for permission to upgrade the electrics and heating and upgrade plumbing, all of which have not been updated since the 1950s.

The college said it would be necessary to close close the building to undertake this work and also to make ‘minor layout changes’ to improve staff welfare and fire safety.

Worcester College, in Worcester Street, was founded in the 18th century.
