A MILLION pound redevelopment of Abingdon's Guildhall has started.
The scheme, approved in June, will include an extension to the historic building for new toilet facilities, as well as improvements to the main reception and gardens.
Wi-Fi, a hearing loop system for those with hearing difficulties and updates to the heating system will also be done to modernise the civic space.
A public meeting to discuss the future of a 17th century staircase inside the Guildhall was held last night in response to plans by Abingdon Town Council to have it replaced with a platform lift to allow disabled access.
Work is set to be completed by the summer.
