A SHOWCASE of Russian films from Oxford's twin city of Perm will be shown this weekend.

The documentary films will be introduced in person by Vladimir Beresnev, artist and Curator of the Flahertiana Film Festival in Perm.

The films include Third Class Travel, directed by Rodion Ismailov.

From Moscow to Vladivostok the Trans-Siberian Railway crosses seven time zones and 5,772 miles.

This film spends a few days before and at New Year 2016 with passengers in Third Class.

Also receiving a screening is Not My Job directed by Denis Shabaev.

It tells the tale of Faroukh, a young man from Tajikistan, sets off to Moscow in the hope of fulfilling his dream of becoming an actor.

The pictures of modern Russia will be on display between 4pm and 6pm on Sunday at Rewley House, Wellington Square, Oxford.

The event has been organised by The Oxford-Perm Association.

Dr Beresnev, who is also a board member of the Perm Museum of Modern Art, will meet his opposite numbers at Oxford’s MOMA as part of his visit.
