A SCHOOL has coped well with growth in its catchment area, an inspector found.

William Fletcher Primary School in Kidlington has kept up its ‘good’ Ofsted rating, following an inspection last month.

A report published by the eduction regulator on Tuesday said: “The number of pupils at the school has risen and there have been changes to the character of the school’s intake, reflecting the growth and diversity of housing in the village.

“[The headteacher] has managed these changes well and ensured good outcomes for pupils have been maintained.

“Parents are overwhelming in their appreciation of the school.”

One parent told the inspector children has ‘flourished’ at the school, which has more than 253 pupils on its roll.

Ofsted’s report added: “Engaging teaching and interesting tasks challenge all pupils, including the most able.

“Work to promote pupils’ social and moral understanding is reflected in their mature and sensitive responses to issues such as the plight of refugees.

“The vibrant curriculum and good teaching in the early years enable children to get off to a good start in school.”

It noted leaders had worked to improve absence rates, and described the school as a ‘purposeful community’.

The school teaches 50 more pupils now than it did during its last Ofsted in 2013.
