A POP-up shop selling handmade gifts will support an Oxford mental health charity.

Restore will rally funds by opening a shop in Banbury, stocked with gifts and decorations crafted by its service users.

The Castle Quay store will open for one day only on Thursday, selling last-minute Christmas presents including jewellery, baubles and carved wooden items.

Jacqui Vincent-Potter, recovery coordinator at Restore, said: “Our pop-up shop is a great opportunity for us to raise much-needed funds and showcase Restore and the work we do.

“We’re really looking forward to meeting shoppers and showing them the fantastic festive items our talented members have produced.”

The charity is based in East Oxford but offers support across the county.

Gifts in the shop have been made by members of Restore’s North Oxfordshire Recovery Group, which helps service users to socialise and learn skills such as crafting, cooking and woodwork.

Members run their own shop all year round, at their base in Banbury.

The pop-up shop project is part-funded by Sanctuary Housing, as part of its ongoing support for Restore.

Sanctuary’s neighbourhood partnership manager Kate Winstanley said: “Restore offers an important service to local people, aiding their recovery and helping them to learn new skills, move forward and live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.”

Shoppers are welcome to drop into the shop from 9am-6pm on Thursday.

In November last year the recovery group raised more than £600 with a pop-up shop in Castle Quay.
