A LIFE-SAVING portable defibrillator is now available at RAF Benson.
On Tuesday, station commander, Group Captain Hamish Cormack formally accepted the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).
The device, which does not need training to use as it gives voice prompts, and will not allow shocks to be delivered unless the patient requires them, is located at RAF Benson's main guardroom.
The English FA and the British Heart Foundation have teamed up to provide the subsidised machines for Charter Standard Football Clubs; which includes the station's Benson Lions.
The club donated their AED to be used by all personnel and local residents.
Should members of the community require the AED for medical emergencies, it will be available for immediate collection, provided that the Ambulance Service has been called via the 999 or 112 service.
