POLICE have warned residents be on their guard following a 'sharp rise' in burglaries across the county.
Over the past few weeks there have been a spate of similar crimes, with thieves gaining access via rear unlocked doors, forcing entry by levering doors and windows or by smashing glass to steal cash and jewellery.
Thefts have been reported in Witney, Carterton and Chipping Norton as well as in Banbury, Bicester and Kidlington.
Anyone who has seen any strange vehicles near their home, or suspicious door to door sellers are asked to call police on 101.
