GET TO know the history of artist Van Gogh, in the first of three talks that delve into the life of the troubled painter.
Art historian Juliet Heslewood will start tomorrow from 1pm at the Ashmolean by talking about the influence of Flanders on his work.
As he struggled to enter the church as a profession, Van Gogh drew scenes from his native Holland. Drawn to the plight of the poor, he produced dark images that bear a surprising comparison to his later work.
Part two will take place on November 10, with the final part on November 17.
Tickets are £6 and booking is essential.
