PHONE boxes in North Oxfordshire will be tidied up after BT admitted it was not checking them often.

Cherwell District Council unanimously approved a motion to request the telecommunication giant cleans up their phone boxes.

Councillor Sean Gaul called the city phone boxes a "magnet for vandalism" and in a "very poor condition".

The leader of Cherwell District Council, Barry Wood, seconded the motion proposed by Mr Gaul.

He said he did not want the phone boxes to be used as "latrines or worse".
