ALL things swinging 60s will be celebrated at a festive street fair next month.

The iconic decade will be the theme for this year's Didcot Christmas Street Fair on Thursday November 30.

The 24th annual fair will feature live bands across two stages in the Orchard Centre and outside Boots.

A tribute band from Wallingford covering The Rolling Stones and The Who, an Elvis entertainer and local band The Lula Las will entertain visitors with live music.

The grand parade will leave from the Civic Hall at 7pm featuring vintage cars, hippies, rock n rollers and The Reading Scottish Pipe Band.

The 1960s saw big changes across the world with the first man walking on the moon, England winning the World Cup and the BBC starting radio 1, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

In Didcot, the Great Western Society moved into Didcot Railway Centre in 1967 and several Didcot businesses opened that are still open today.

On the day of the fair, the Broadway will be closed to traffic from 3.30pm - 9.30pm including the new bus route through Station Road.

Jeanette Howse, chairman of Didcot Events said: "So much has changed in Didcot since the 1960's and we were aware of some really important things happened we thought it a great opportunity to celebrate that decade."
