AN OXFORDSHIRE company has been named 'start-up entrepreneur of the year' by a high street bank.
Oxford Space Systems was given the accolade by Barclays at an award ceremony in London on Wednesday night.
The space-age business, which is based in the Harwell Space Cluster, manufacture a new generation of antennas for space.
It is aiming to become the leading global supplier of deployable space antennas and structures.
The company is designing and building new, lighter and less complex structures for space which it is selling to the global satellite industry.
The award was given at the Barclays' Entrepreneur Awards 2017.
The 'start-up entrepreneur of the year' category is given in recognition of people who have started a new, fast-growing business.
Former Apprentice judge and member of the House of Lords Karen Brady and Adam Rowse from Barclays presented the founder of the company Mike Lawton with the award.
Earlier in the evening Mrs Brady had told guests that her key ingredients for success in business are 'leadership, ambition, determination , attitude, direction and positivity.'
Oxford Space Systems has been in operation since September 2013.
The company was also named in the 'top 60 innovations' list produced by Business and Innovation Magazine in July this year.
It also featured among the world's 'most promising start-ups' at the space industry's FinSpace Awards in Paris in September.
