AN OXFORD university study may have finally resolved an argument that has long plagued wine buffs.

Professor Charles Spence’s new research has revealed that corked wine does indeed win out over the screw top variety.

Overall, 15 per cent of people surveyed rated the same wine as better quality when served under a cork.

The research also found that 13 per cent of people point to the wine on the list to avoid pronouncing it incorrectly and nine per cent ask for the second most expensive wine on the list in the hope that it will be good.
