THE FORMER Prime Minister of New Zealand will speak in Oxford as part of the Women of Achievement lecture series.

Helen Clark was the administrator of the United Nations Development Programme from April 2009 until April 2017 and was the first woman to lead the organization.

She was also the Chair of the United Nations Development Group, a committee consisting of the heads of all UN funds, programmes and departments working on development issues.

Prior to her appointment with UNDP, Helen Clark served for nine years as Prime Minister of New Zealand, serving three successive terms from 1999 - 2008.

She was a member of the Council of Women World Leaders, an international network of current and former women presidents and prime ministers whose mission is to mobilize the highest-level women leaders globally for collective action on issues of critical importance to women and equitable development.

This series aims to raise the profile of women of high achievement and increase the range of role models accessible to women at Oxford, and challenge and inspire the entire Oxford community. It is funded by the Vice-Chancellor’s Diversity Fund, and is hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Louise Richardson.

The lecture will take place at Weston Library Lecture Theatre on Broad Street from 5.30pm on October 2.
