Didcot Girls’ School has teamed up with First Give and have won grants worth £1,500 to go towards charities in the town.
The whole of year nine at the school took part in the programme and made professional presentations about their chosen charity.
Blue Skye Thinking won £250 thanks to their team’s presentation,Sobell House Hospice had two teams representing them at the final and won £250 and Make A Wish UK were the big winners of £1000 to help the families of terminally ill children have their final wishes granted.
Students also baked and sold cakes during the interval in aid of the Red Cross after being inspired by the One Love concert in Manchester.
Stuart George, who leads the delivery the First Give programme at Didcot Girls’ School, said: “It was a really enjoyable and at times very moving event as our pupils spoke passionately about their charities of choice, some of which our pupils in the past had used in times of need.
“The girls were very professional in their delivery and informed us of how much they had personally gained from the First Give project.”
