SCHOOLCHILDREN got a peak inside the world leading science and technology campus at Harwell.

Year four to six pupils from Church Cowley St James, Marsh Baldon and St Francis School were invited to the site after the campus teamed up with Cowley Road Carnival.

With a Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics theme running through this years carnival, organisers were keen to provide an opportunity for children to see first-hand how research and discovery is helping space and healthcare.

Following talks about space exploration and the planets, artists worked with them to help create ideas for their procession groups in the carnival.

Natalie Rushton, a teacher at Marsh Baldon, said: “The children said it was really fun and they loved finding out more about space, they were particularly enthusiastic about discussing black holes.

“The staff have told me it was a great opportunity to see science in action and lots of our budding scientists are now feeling even more inspired.

“The children have been busy making shooting stars and a black hole of their own.”
