TEAMS have taken on a neighbourhood blitz in Glory Farm, Bicester, as part of a council clean-up campaign.

This week, Cherwell District Council embarked on a five-day targeted clean-up of the Bicester estate, tackling problems such as litter, flytipping, graffiti and dog mess.

Throughout the campaign the street cleansing team also offered to take away bulky waste from residents in the area for free.

Cherwell District Council lead member for clean and green Debbie Pickford said: “Cherwell residents do a very good job of recycling, but we can always do better, and many of us do have doubts about how to recycle certain materials.

“So we hope people will be pleased to greet our friendly team, who will be there to help people make the best use of their services.

“The blitz is all about supporting neighbourhood pride.

“So, as the street cleansers are out and about making public spaces look their best, we hope people will support them by making the most of the free bulky waste collection offer.

“Plus, if they are not already, resolving to dispose of their waste and litter in the correct way in the weeks and months to come.

“After a successful last litter blitz we are expecting them to be hard at work during this campaign as well.”

A previous litter blitz in the town saw the district council collect a whopping18 tonnes of waste.
