STUDENTS heading home from Oxford Brookes University at the end of term could help raise nearly £100,000 for the British Heart Foundation.

Between May 24 and June 5 students will be donating their unwanted items such as clothes, shoes, electrical items, books, DVDs and CDs to the charity.

It can then sell them on through its charity shops as part of its national Pack for Good campaign.

Unopened food will also be collected and donated to the Oxford Food Bank.

Oxford Brookes residences manager Juliette Ashton said: “It has been great to see so many students supporting The British Heart Foundation and the Oxford Food Bank by donating their unwanted items rather than throwing them away.

“All of the donations lessen the impact on items going into waste streams and help us to support these charities and the valuable work they do.”

The Pack for Good campaign has been running in Oxford since 2012.

In the past two years both Oxford Brookes and Oxford University students have raised approximately £187,000 through this campaign.

This offers support by funding cardiac research and nursing in the Churchill Hospital.
