CARE home residents welcomed baby chicks into the world to mark the beginning of spring.

Iffley Residential and Nursing Home in Anne Greenwood close, Oxford, took delivery of eight eggs and watched them hatch into four males and four females.

Residents and staff then fed and cared for them, naming them after the home’s carers.

Dorothy Booth, 72, said: “They are so cute. I could watch them all day.”

The chicks were part of the ‘living eggs’ project where care homes and schools get the chance to see chicks hatching and then look after them for 10 days before they are rehomed.

Activities assistant Rachel Bearn said: “Our residents have absolutely loved having the chicks here.”
