A SELF-STYLED ‘buoy band’ are set to play in Oxford to mark their collaboration with a brewery.

Fisherman’s Friends will perform at the Town Hall on February 16 as part of their Winter Warmer tour.

It marks eight years of collaboration between the band and St Austell Brewery, which owns Beerd in George Street.

The band started out 20 years ago raising money for charities in Cornwall by singing traditional songs of the sea.

Their performance at the Town Hall will feature new songs as well as old favourites.

The band said: “We are really looking forward to getting into the fish van again and playing for old friends and making some new ones around the country.

“We are not very rock n roll, more born to be mild than wild, but we love performing anywhere we can and carrying a little bit of Cornwall with us.”
