PLANS to transform a former Witney pub into flats were approved by a planning committee.

The proposals from Gomm Developments to convert The Robin Hood in Hailey Road into flats were given the go-ahead at a meeting of West Oxfordshire District Council’s lowlands planning committee on Monday.

The plans will see the conversion of the former pub to three flats and the construction of a new building to accommodate a further four flats. Also included in the scheme is the erection of two bungalows.

The developer said the development would ‘enhance the character’ of that part of the road and offer low-cost one bed flats to the community.

Two letters of objection were received by the public, which outlined concerns about insufficient parking on the site and lack of detail in the proposals.

The application, which officers had recommended for approval, had been deferred from last month’s meeting to enable members of the committee to undertake a site visit.
