THREE towns which suffer from poor air quality will be quizzed by officers in a bid to cut vehicle emissions.

Researchers working for South Oxfordshire District Council will be interviewing residents in Watlington, Wallingford and Henley to get ideas to help tackle the problem.

Last year the district council commissioned a report that suggested actions to tackle the problem.

These included traffic restrictions at certain times across the bridge into Wallingford and on-street parking restrictions to prevent traffic from getting clogged up in Watlington.

County councillor Tony Harbour said: "We are really grateful for the good response we have had so far and now we want to fully understand the views of people who actually live in these areas.

"The proposed Low Emissions Strategy has shown us that these are the only actions that will make a significant difference, particularly in Watlington and Wallingford and we would like to hear how residents feel the actions could affect the day to day lives of people living here."

The council has already received responses from people across the district about the suggestions made in the proposed Low Emissions Strategy and on the whole, people responding to a consultation at the start of the year were broadly very supportive of the suggested actions.
