AN Abingdon School pupil has won the top prize in a national writing competition.
Joe Bradly, 15, took home the Young Walter Scott Prize for 11 to 19-year-olds.
The prize challenges young people to write a piece of short fiction set in a time before they were born in an era recognisably different from the present.
Joe received a £500 travel grant and went to the Borders Book Festival in Melrose, Scotland, where he met writers including Patrick Gale, Gavin McCrea, Allan Massie and Simon Mawer.
